
Infusion Nurse - PT Weekends – Chantilly

Job Overview
An Infusion Nurse II is a licensed registered nurse who coordinates and provides intermediate direct patient care to patients in the home or in an alternate infusion suite, ensuring patient safety, continuity, and compliance under a physician’s plan of care. The role operates under structured supervision.
Responsibilities
Initiate, develop, and implement intermediate nursing plan of care treatments, evaluating patient progress toward goals.
Organize and participate in the provision of direct patient care, administer treatments, medications, and educate patients and families/caregivers.
Modify plan of treatment in response to changing patient status or physician orders.
Assess patient needs and physical status at each skilled visit, re‑evaluate through reassessment and therapy response, and provide written summaries to physicians.
Provide training and mentorship to Infusion Nurse I’s to ensure patient safety and compliance.
Teach patients and families a patient‑centered approach for independence in prescribed therapy and care.
Communicate effectively with the clinical team, medical providers, patients, and families to facilitate continuity of care.
Prepare real‑time clinical documentation during visits, submit to the nursing department to meet billing timelines, and maintain legible records with approved abbreviations.
Coordinate discharge planning, prepare discharge summaries, and communicate patient needs, progress, and goals when transferring care.
Demonstrate compliance with agency operations, policies, local, state, federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
Maximize work efficiency using computer and automation technologies to validate orders and follow visit schedules.
Respond promptly to patient requests and initiate emergency procedures as necessary.
Accept accountability for own practice through ethical conduct, following established programs and policies.
Observe legal and ethical guidelines safeguarding confidentiality, including HIPAA regulations.
Explain Option Care’s scope of services and discuss related financial obligations with patients.
Complete required training modules, in‑services, and continuing education to maintain competency.
Provide oversight of paraprofessionals and may act as Supervisor in the absence of a Nurse Manager.
Participate in multidisciplinary team conferences and mentor other nurses during orientation and onboarding.
Participate in nursing department on‑call responsibilities.
Perform other related duties as directed by the supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
No: the position does not supervise staff.
Education & Experience
Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of practice.
Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
Current CPR certification required.
Basic Qualifications
Competency in patient care standards and infusion skill sets required for agency programs.
Advanced certification and training as applicable.
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle with proof of liability insurance.
Basic knowledge of computer operating systems and software applications to use nursing technology tools for documentation.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
Requirements include walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, turning, balancing, stooping, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, carrying, and fine motor skills.
Exposure risks: blood, body fluids, infectious materials, hazardous substances, needles, sharps, fumes, chemicals, different weather elements, animals, and unpredictable home environments.
Safety equipment: closed‑toe shoes, facemask, goggles, gown, gloves, and functional communication device.
Travel
Willing to travel up to 100% of the time for business purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.
1–2 years of previous infusion nursing experience.

Salary is based on education, experience, skills, and market data, ranging from $46.60 to $77.67 per hour.
