
Human Resources Generalist

Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Manager, provide a broad range of human resources services and analytical support to assigned Continuing and Professional Education departments. Serve as a resource to supervisors, managers, and staff by offering guidance on human resources practices and UCD policy and contract interpretation. Support a wide variety of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, leaves, stipends, reclassifications and policy compliance. Research and analyze HR issues and manage departmental recruitment activities, including reviewing and preparing position descriptions and guiding supervisors through the recruitment process to ensure compliance with university policy.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position.
Bachelors degree and/or equivalent experience working in a human resources environment in a large, complex organization.
Experience with recruitment and selection activities, including screening and reference checks.
Experience working in an HR environment interpreting and applying complex policies, procedures, labor agreements, governmental employment requirements and regulations and related material.
Experience working with human resource sensitive data and to discern level of confidentiality and keep appropriate information confidential.
Experience analyzing key issues and researching, gathering and integrating information regarding employment matters.
Computer/software skills to use intermediate features of business software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams, along with web-based integrated systems (such as recruitment systems).
Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to tactfully, clearly and effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives to secure and/or provide information to clarify situations, provide training, resolve problems, and provide feedback.
Organizational and time management skills to coordinate large volumes of work and establish priorities; to work on projects simultaneously with competing deadlines; to pay close attention to detail.
Problem solving skills to define and analyze issues and to independently develop and implement solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with UC Davis personnel and recruitment systems.
Knowledge of UC policies and procedures related to Staff Personnel.
