
Reefer Maintenance Technician

Position Summary
The Reefer Technician supports the maintenance and operation of refrigerated trailers within the fleet. This role focuses on inspection, preventative maintenance, and general trailer repair related to reefer units, while working alongside third‑party refrigeration vendors who perform specialized refrigeration system repairs. This position is ideal for someone who wants to develop skills working with refrigerated trailer equipment while building mechanical experience in a fleet maintenance environment.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect refrigerated trailers to ensure units and related components are operating safely and efficiently
Perform preventative maintenance on reefer trailers, including belts, electrical components, and supporting mechanical systems
Assist with diagnostics and coordinate repairs with external refrigeration service providers
Perform general trailer repair and maintenance including structural, electrical, and mechanical components
Prepare units for vendor refrigeration service and assist with troubleshooting operational issues
Document inspections, maintenance, and repairs in maintenance tracking systems
Ensure equipment meets company safety standards and regulatory requirements
Work closely with maintenance and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime
Qualifications
Experience in trailer repair, diesel mechanics, or mechanical maintenance preferred
Interest in learning transport refrigeration equipment and systems
Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical issuesStrong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently in a shop environment
Preferred Qualifications
Trade school or technical training in diesel mechanics, trailer repair, or HVAC
Experience working with refrigerated trailers or fleet maintenance operations
Familiarity with Thermo King or Carrier units is a plus but not required
