Job Summary
The On‑Site Junior Coordinator provides academic and student support services to adults in custody participating in Kentucky State University’s prison education program. The role maintains a consistent on‑site presence, offers academic advising, assists faculty, and coordinates logistics for incarcerated students.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct research on best practices for supporting adults in custody and evaluate educational programs.
Participate in departmental and university committees and collaborate with industry partners.
Provide academic advising, mentoring, and assistance with admissions, financial aid, and reentry planning.
Coordinate correctional course offerings each semester with Division Chairs.
Track student progress, prepare reports, accreditation documentation, MOUs, and support files.
Support federal and state reporting requirements related to financial aid and program compliance.
Establish and maintain relationships with correctional administrators, reentry organizations, and community partners.
Attend conferences, workshops, and seminars for professional development.
Essential Job Functions
On‑Site Support and Student Advising
Maintain regular on‑site office hours (~3 days per week) at the correctional facility.
Provide in‑person academic and student support services.
Act as liaison between incarcerated students and university personnel.
Ensure timely communication and delivery of academic materials and resources.
Academic and Program Coordination
Advise students on course selection, degree planning, and general academic concerns.
Assist students in navigating admissions, financial aid, and reentry planning.
Coordinate with Division Chairs for semester course offerings.
Administrative and Institutional Support
Track academic progress and maintain documentation for incarcerated students.
Prepare reports, accreditation documentation, MOUs, and support files for off‑site programs.
Support meeting federal and state reporting requirements.
Outreach and Collaboration
Maintain professional relationships with correctional administrators, reentry organizations, and partners.
Coordinate community, industry, and educational initiatives to support student outcomes.

Working Conditions
Correctional Facility Setting: Requires spending ~three days per week at Roderer Correctional Complex or similar.
On‑Campus Work: Remainder of work occurs on campus or in office environments.
Office Space: Designated on‑site office hours within the correctional facility, with mobility between campus and facility.
Physical Conditions: Travel between campus and correctional facilities; extended desk work; compliance with security protocols.
Schedule: Must maintain scheduled office hours (2–3 days per week) on‑site; occasional evening or weekend commitments for professional development or outreach.
