General Position Description
While keeping safety at the forefront – oversees EI & C Shop operation to ensure efficient coordination of installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting / repairs of all mill equipment while following established procedures and mill policies. Continually upgrade employee skills to meet the demands of new technology and electrical safety. Provide for the effective and timely completion of maintenance work through coordination with other Maintenance Department leaders, Planners, and production departments.
Role and Responsibilities
Champions Safety in Every Aspect of the Position
Ensure Completion of all Incident (Substandard Conditions, Near Miss, Injuries, Observations, etc.) Investigations
Ensure a high level of awareness and employee compliance for Pixelle’s Electrical Safety Policy
Ensure Environmental Systems Process Awareness and Compliance
Understands and Administers Company Policy
Responsible for identifying / executing Reliability Roadmap Action Items
Consistently apply documented processes (Pixelle Playbook) to proactively drive tasks, follow established workflows, and support team members to achieve measurable outcomes.
Responsible for next level conflict resolution
Supports Apprenticeship Program by Auditing the Process
Must Demonstrate Good Communication Skills Throughout the Organization
Responsible for Employee On-boarding
Responsible for Succession Planning
Must maintain effective working relationships with operations, other Maintenance personnel, vendors, contractors, and engineers
Work closely with Engineering, production, and other departments, at all levels of supervision, throughout the plant in making estimates, determining priorities, scheduling, and managing shop personnel
Maintain Awareness of Work Order Backlog – Identify Deficiencies and Improvement Opportunities.
Monitors Daily/Weekly Progress of Scheduled Work (DCC)
Evaluates and Manages the Collection of Job Feedback to Improve Future Work
Is accountable to review and approve all discretionary spending in the shops along with purchase requisitions, shipping requisitions and authority to stock, etc.
Writes and reviews purchase requisitions, reviews and approves job invoices, audits invoices and VMI activities and manages spend in the maintenance department within approved budgets
Input to Capital Budgeting process along with recommending replacements, upgrades, and/or the addition of equipment to minimize maintenance costs and downtime
Input to all Outages
Serves in the On-Call Supervisor Rotation
Demonstrates Forward Thinking
Must be able to handle deadlines, variable workloads and be on call 24 hours when needed
Proactive in driving continuous improvement through Scheduling, PM/PdM (Reliability Improvement) and 6S
Ensure Shop Equipment Continually Meets ISO Standards
Participates in RCFA process and drives reliability into the business.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
Journeyman level certification in a state recognized apprentice program or equivalent work experience is desired
Must have the ability to manage people
Minimum of five (5) years experience in an industrial environment
Must have above average communication skills, both written and oral
Above average computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
SAP, SAP-PM or other software experience is required
Ability to work both independently and as a team member
Knowledge of safety hazards and appropriate precautions applicable to work assignments
Ability to wear respirator safety equipment
Ability to wear protective clothing as required by prevailing conditions
Ability to perform mathematical computations for design, layouts, drawings, tolerances, fabrication, estimating and purchasing
Ability to read, interpret and apply information from files, drawings, catalogs, reports, and manuals.
Must possess and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; taste or smell; the employee is frequently required to sit; the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and the ability to wear appropriate vision protection. The noise level in the work environment requires the use of appropriate hearing protection
