
Registered Nurse (RN) (2026-2027 School Year)

Position Summary
To provide coordinated, comprehensive health services to the students within the school system and to advocate and facilitate conditions that promote optimal physical, mental, and emotional health for children, families, and the community.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Provide basic first aid and emergency medical services
Perform nursing services for identification and treatment of acute illnesses
Maintain individual health and immunization records, according to state regulations
Administer medication according to prescription label and school district policy
Supervise, train and monitor procedures/treatments delegated
Conduct state‑mandated screenings (hearing, vision, scoliosis, BMI, etc.)
Manage communicable disease(s) if needed
Identify students with special health care needs
Implement and maintain individualized Health Care Plans
Complete a thorough assessment of each identified and qualifying student in the district
Ensure that appropriate Personal Care Services applications are submitted and maintained for each qualifying student
Write and submit a service plan for each qualifying student, every six (6) months
Modify service plans, as necessary
Instruct Personal Care Aide in routines, activities and tasks to perform in executing service plans
At least monthly, review and document aide's records
Perform routine on-site visits both when the aide is not present and when the aide is present and furnishing services
Obtain time sheets (services performed) for compilation and submit for reimbursement
Stock and keep health room clean and organized
Work with physicians, classroom teachers, school nurses, paraprofessionals, parents and students to ensure appropriate documentation, monitoring and evaluations required throughout the school year are completed
Adhere to all policies of the District
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator, the Director of Nursing and other central office administrators, as designated by the Superintendent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to assist with medical procedures and treatments
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to use computer network system and software applications
Ability to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as needed
Ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written form
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and other stakeholders
Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
Qualifications
Registered Nursing License, from the Arkansas State Board of Nursing
CPR certification
CEU's (15 hours every 2 years)
Successful completion of all background checks
