
Electrophysiology Nurse RN

Summary
This position cares for patients before, during and after their electrophysiology procedure, including Pacemaker, ICD, CRT, Leadless devices and SVT, AFIB, AV node, Aflutter, VT PVC ablations, lead extraction and Watchman procedures. This includes pre-procedure assessment, pre-medication, documentation of procedural process, post-procedure care and patient education.

Responsibilities
Performs nursing care of the device implant, ablation, lead extraction and Watchman patients.
Assisting with scrubbing, circulating cases and sterically dropping supplies on procedural tray.
Records all pertinent information appropriately in the EMR.
Managing operating systems, equipment and supplies (Cardiolab, Micropace, Claris).
Certifications and Licensures
Credential: RN – Registered Nurse
Equivalent Experience: Knowledge of nursing technique as normally acquired through completion of an associate's degree in nursing culminating in licensure as an RN. ACLS certified. Knowledge of critical care nursing as normally acquired through 2 years' experience working in a Medical Center or similar setting.

Assumes responsibility for professional growth by seeking educational opportunities and utilizing programs in the hospital.
Precepts/mentors new employees and students.

Education, Experience, And Training
Knowledge of critical care nursing as normally acquired through 2 years experience working in a Medical Center or similar setting. Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts clearly.
Physical/Mental Requirements And Typical Working Conditions
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes wearing lead and latex materials or appropriate substitutes if required.
Must be able to move about the facility with or without an assisted device and perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Vision and hearing required with or without assisted devices.
Frequently sit/stand/walk for long periods; may require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain regular and predictable attendance, and stay awake.
Dexterity for handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling; may involve repetitive movements.
Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to lift or carry 21-50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs continuously; walking/standing for significant portions of the day.
This position requires staff to wear Lead during the procedure.
