Position Summary
The Loan Officer Assistant (LOA) plays a critical support role within the mortgage lending process by partnering with Senior Loan Officers to ensure a seamless experience for clients. This position is responsible for managing administrative tasks, maintaining communication with borrowers and internal teams, and contributing to the successful progression of mortgage applications from initiation to closing.

The LOA supports the loan officer in all aspects of loan processing, from document collection to final closing, ensuring smooth workflow and compliance throughout the mortgage lifecycle.
Essential Responsibilities
Understand loan documents, the mortgage process, and loan origination systems to efficiently manage loan applications, including copying, scanning, and uploading documentation.
Assist Senior Loan Officers in gathering necessary borrower documentation to facilitate timely pre‑qualification and loan processing.
Track and follow up on outstanding borrower items to ensure timely completion of requirements.
Collaborate with processors and closers to streamline workflows and ensure effective progression from borrower contact to loan closing.
Maintain open and effective communication with internal staff regarding loan status updates.
Assist in creating and distributing marketing materials, such as rate sheets and promotional content, to support Senior Loan Officers’ outreach efforts.
Maintain organized and accurate mortgage filing systems.
Perform general clerical tasks such as managing correspondence, scheduling, and document preparation.
Obtain and maintain NMLS Certification.
Ensure all actions comply with company policies, industry regulations, and applicable laws.
Stay informed about local real estate trends, the competitive landscape, and evolving regulations for private and government‑insured mortgages.
Handle personal borrower information with a high level of confidentiality and security.
Uphold company standards and project a professional image in all interactions.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must meet qualifications and standards for Loan Officer Licensure under the SAFE Act.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with internal teams.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiar with loan origination software.
Able to make sound decisions, resolve issues, and adapt to a fast‑paced environment.
Self‑motivated with a positive attitude and strong drive to meet goals.
Willing to adapt to varying workloads and schedules as needed.
Experience And Training
High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the mortgage industry, with exposure to FHA, VA, and USDA loan products preferred.
Familiarity with creating marketing materials and advertising campaigns is a plus.
Must maintain current knowledge of licensing, registration, and training obligations under the SAFE Act and other relevant regulations.

Extensive reading and computer use expected more than 50% of the time. Verbal communication with others is essential.
