Role Summary
The M/E Engineer 3 will complete increasingly complex mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities. Responsibilities include collecting and assembling data, developing estimates, generating system and bid analysis, and supporting the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities – Core

Learns and actively participates in company safety and quality plans.

Completes entry‑level and routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.

Develops budgetary M/E estimates based on program and schematic design information using automated estimating systems.

Assists in reviewing mechanical and electrical options during preconstruction and performs systems analysis for selected projects.

Develops mechanical and electrical scopes of work for bid coordination.

Assists in bid analysis and subcontractor selection.

Develops sequencing requirements for various systems and proposes solutions to meet schedule needs.

Reviews design documents to identify potential quality issues and contributes to constructability review reports.

Performs job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met.

Assists with shop drawing/submittal processes to comply with contract documents.

Supports commissioning processes, including drafting pre‑functional checklists, functional testing procedures, and actual testing.

Promotes diversity and inclusion and ensures compliance with JE Dunn’s non‑discrimination policy.

Completes increasingly complex mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.

Develops budgetary M/E estimates from program and schematic designs.

Reviews options, performs systems analysis, recommends best systems, and provides value engineering suggestions.

Coordinates mechanical and electrical scopes during the bid process.

Develops sequencing requirements and offers solutions to meet schedule requirements; provides scheduling input during projects.

Reviews design documents to identify quality problems and helps develop quality control programs.

Performs job inspections at various project stages to ensure specifications are met.

Develops pre‑functional checklists and functional testing procedures; verifies contractor performance.

Reviews and approves shop drawings prior to submission to the design team.

Generates and issues the commissioning plan for approval.

Ensures deficiencies are corrected and submits commissioning documentation to owners.

Provides mentoring to less experienced co‑workers.

Creates M/E tools and innovative solutions to continuously improve processes and products.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Accurate and timely work execution.

Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.

Intermediate proficiency in MS Office.

Ability to read and understand plans, drawings, and specifications.

Proficiency in JE Dunn construction M/E tools and software.

Knowledge of construction management means and methods.

Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with internal and external stakeholders.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field.

Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

Preferred: 5+ years of construction and/or engineering experience.

Working Environment

Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.
