Body Structures Engineer (BIW, Closures, Body CAD)
This is a contract/resident engineering opportunity located on site with our client in Novi/Northville, MI.
What you will be doing
The Body Structures Engineer leads design and development of body structures including sheet metal, closures, and BIW systems. Focuses on lightweight, manufacturable, and high-performance structural solutions.
What you'll need to be successful (must haves)
Design and develop body structures (rails, pillars, closures, reinforcements)
Create and manage
CATIA CAD
models and drawings
Perform packaging, kinematic, and structural analysis
Support CAE validation (crash, durability, NVH)
Collaborate with manufacturing on stamping, welding, and assembly feasibility
Manage suppliers, tooling, and production launch
Drive issue resolution and continuous design improvement
Essentials
Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
Experience in BIW, sheet metal, or closures systems
Strong proficiency in
CATIA CAD
Knowledge of stamping, welding, and structural design
Experience with product development and launch
