Millig Design Build is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC systems in ground-up and retrofit situations, support decarbonization planning and design, and develop facility improvement projects within our fully integrated team.

This candidate will have the opportunity to join our rapidly growing engineering team of the best engineers in the country in designing systems to make buildings healthier, safer, and more energy efficient. Our clients include major universities, international manufacturers, state governments, counties, and school districts.

Our engineering team is a critical part of our design-build process, responsible for designing MEP projects that Millig also constructs and commissions. This approach ensures the highest level of quality and control from initial concept through completion. As an engineer on Millig’s projects, you will have the unique opportunity to directly support your designs as they are built, and because we integrate engineering with construction, our focus is always on quality, not billable hours.

Location
This role can be based out of our Lenexa, KS or Centennial, CO office with hybrid or remote work schedule.

Minimal travel is required.

Primary Responsibilities
MEP Design

Lead the design and development of MEP systems for various building projects.

Prepare and modify engineering documents, including drawings and specifications using Revit and AutoCAD.

Finalize the selection of equipment and materials for HVAC installations.

Resolve issues impacting budget, scope, and schedule by evaluating alternate schemes and value engineering options, as applicable, to mitigate project risks.

Auditing and Site Assessment

Support the completion of preliminary and detailed facility studies to identify energy conservation opportunities and required system renewal projects.

Lead the technical analysis, calculations, and simulations for system loads and performance.

Coordinate with subconsultants, designers, vendors, and contractors to ensure project requirements are met.

Interact with our in-house construction and estimating team to develop, review and in some instances, iterate, on cost estimates and design concepts.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited school.

Licensed Professional Engineer and willing to be licensed in states as needed.

7+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer for building systems.

Strong knowledge of HVAC principles.

Understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to HVAC, controls, and plumbing systems.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.

Experience with Bluebeam, CAD, and Revit.

Experience with load calculation software

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Familiarity with designing controls, electrical, and plumbing systems, in addition to mechanical systems.

Knowledge of energy-efficient technologies and how to design them to optimize system performance.

Project management skills for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.

Licensed in CO and WA
