TekSystems is currently hiring for a Medical Patient Service Coordinator role in the Baltimore County/White Marsh, MD area.
MUST HAVE:
1-3 years of medical receptionist, patient service coordinator, medical scheduling, medical front desk, or something related experience
IDX knowledge or EPIC knowledge is a huge plus
Checking patients in and out of their appointments. This individual will be sitting at the front desk, entering charges, taking internal employee calls, using IDX software and MedConnect, collecting copays, and ensuring a positive patient flow and comfort level while handling financial aspects.
Job Responsibilities

Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
Manages the intake of patients into the practice, screens for emergent conditions, registers, verifies insurance and explains patient responsibility regarding payment for services and co‑pays, collects copayment prior to care, posts time of service payments, reviews all encounter forms and prepares charge batches as assigned, and ensures appropriate and timely status assignment of all appointments.
Schedules appointments including follow‑up and referral appointments and completes requisitions for tests, as applicable.
Answers the telephone in accordance with the policy and service expectations, provides telephone triage, disseminates messages appropriately using available technology, and prioritizes calls appropriately and timely.
Prepares, updates, and copies forms, reports, and records on a routine basis; scans, imports, and indexes regularly to keep information flowing into patients’ medical record.
Contacts patients regarding missed appointments, monitors and tracks no‑shows, and enters data into system.
Performs check‑out procedures by inputting patient charges and verifying patient demographic and insurance information, ensuring charges are entered timely in accordance with departmental procedures.
Supports organization initiatives related to new technology, clinical programs, and improving the patient experience, and seeks opportunities for improvement in all administrative processes and services.
Ensures optimal patient flow by managing variable and sometimes unpredictable patient volume throughout the day and providing backup to other members of the team, while interacting effectively with colleagues, medical providers, and others to communicate essential information and ensure a high level of patient experience.
Takes personal responsibility for the neat appearance of the work location, including front office, reception area, break room, and other assigned areas, assuring each area represents MedStar Health positively.
Participates in meetings and on committees as needed or assigned.
Adheres to high reliability organization (HRO) principles and embodies Just Culture standards.
Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Patient registration/medical front desk experience of 2+ years.
Previous MedStar IDX experience is a plus.
Strong customer service skills.
Heavy medical scheduling experience is a plus.
Insurance verification experience is a huge plus.
Experience coming from a busy practice.
Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
Job Details

Contract to Hire position based out of White Marsh, MD. Pay range: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour.
