PLUMBER II (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY)
Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Building Trades, this position will plan, lay‑out, lead and inspect the work of a crew of plumbers and other workers, including incarcerated workers, assigned to plumbing installation and repair work. It will involve the installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of standard plumbing equipment used in water, gas, oil, sewage, fire control, steam and refrigeration systems. The incumbent will instruct, lead, and work with a small incarcerated crew to install and repair pumps, locate trouble spots in plumbing systems, and ensure safety rules are observed. The role may supervise the maintenance of a Plumbing Shop, prepare working sketches and estimates for needed materials, and after training and certification meet OSHA requirements for a "competent person" and/or a "certified supervisor". It also involves assisting in the planning and execution of asbestos abatement and repair as required, maintaining job records, and preparing reports.

Key responsibilities also include planning and laying out schedules; requisitioning materials and equipment necessary to complete work orders; reading schematics, plans and blueprints; providing guidance to incarcerated work crews in completing maintenance orders; ensuring materials and equipment are prepared and ready for scheduled work; contacting outside vendors for price quotes; preparing Form CDC 954 (Intraoffice Requisition); keeping simple work records; performing administrative duties such as adhering to Department policies, rules and procedures; submitting administrative requests (leave, travel, training) in a timely manner; accurately reporting time and submitting timesheets by the due date; attending all meetings, training and seminars as needed or required; and performing other related duties.
