
Automation and Controls Technician

2nd Shift - 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM or 3rd Shift - 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
Responsibilities
Ensure full compliance with food‑safety standards and promptly report any concerns to leadership
Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve automation and electrical systems, including PLCs, HMIs, robotics, servos, sensors, and related hardware
Lead or support the design, programming, installation, and optimization of control systems (Allen‑Bradley or equivalent)
Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives, plant modernization efforts, and capital‑project execution under Engineering leadership
Provide daily support to Engineering and Maintenance teams, including documentation updates, scheduling, and accurate recordkeeping of schematics and software changes
Qualifications
Associate degree in Electrical Technology (or a related field) strongly preferred; equivalent education/experience combinations may be considered
At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in automation, instrumentation, or controls within food manufacturing or an industrial environment
Strong proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting (especially Allen‑Bradley), with the ability to interpret and update electrical schematics and automation documentation
Hands‑on experience with HMIs, robotics, VFDs, servo systems, ladder logic, control narratives, and integrated automation systems
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project for system design, documentation, and reporting
