
Research Technician II - Medical Oncology

Position Summary
The Verma lab in the Department of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician II. Our group studies the causes and consequences of the DNA damage response in cancer. More specifically, our interests include understanding the molecular mechanisms dictating responses to chemotherapeutics that target DNA damage, decoding how cancer cells deal with challenges to DNA replication, and identifying the endogenous DNA lesions that fuel genomic instability in BRCA‑mutant cancers.
Our research integrates cutting‑edge CRISPR genetic screen approaches with various other molecular, cell biology and computational tools. This is a great opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of cancer biology in a highly supportive environment. Enthusiasm for science along with good organization and communication skills are essential.
Scheduled Hours
40 hours per week.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set‑up and maintenance of equipment.
Perform data entry and maintain data files on research.
Prepare tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
Comply with established safety procedures and maintain required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
Ensure lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
Assist with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals.
Education – Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience may substitute for the minimum education requirement.
