Maintenance Delivery - Truck

Job Goal
Performs various manual tasks used in the moving of furniture, boxes, appliances and other items as required by the school district. Job requires performing heavy manual laboring duties. Loading and unloading of trucks, moving furniture and supplies by hand or hand trucks. Plow and sand District parking lots and drives as assigned.
Essential Functions
Able to drive truck when needed.
Wraps furniture with blankets to prevent damage.
Moves equipment, furniture, boxes, machinery, tractors and lifts.
Loads and unloads vehicles by hand or by use of hand truck and/or dollies.
Pads, stacks and secures items in position(s) on truck to prevent damage during shipment.
Arranges articles in truck to form compact load(s), using ropes, padding and other means to secure goods.
Maintains cell phone contact with the Shop office at all times.
Assist other crafts and laborers as needed.
Good manual dexterity and motor coordination.
Ability to organize and assign work.
Numerical ability required to make proper calculations.
Able to perform well under stress and meet deadlines.
Knowledgeable of moving equipment.
Frequently reaches, handles, fingers and feels when moving equipment.
Able to use all tools associated with moving.
Participation in snow removal process
Other duties as assigned.
Communication / Organization:
Must have competency in logistics and be able to plan, schedule and execute multiple deliveries throughout the District as required.
Maintains communication with district staff.
Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties.
Performs other related work as required.
Qualifications
High school, trade and/or vocational school graduation and/or one year experience as a laborer, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience. Strong organizational ability.
Employee shall have a valid driver's license at the time of his/her employment with the Kansas City Kansas USD #500 School District. IF, at any time during his/her employment, the employee should lose their driver's license and/or their driver's license suspended for any reason, the employee shall immediately notify the Director of Physical Properties.
Preferred: Knowledge of public schools or university operations. Knowledge of the Kansas City, KS metropolitan area's roads and highway system.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Language Skills
Ability to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly. Specific Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: materials handling procedures; inventory techniques; warehouse equipment; and safety practices and procedures.
Physical Demands
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling frequent climbing and balancing frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness. Work is medium to heavy. Routinely handles loads weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally handles loads weighing up to 100 pounds or more. Walks and stands most of the day. Works both inside and outside. May be required to work long hours. Required to move items up and down stairs.
