Speech-Language Pathologist

Crystal Lake School District 47 currently has an opening for a Speech-Language Pathologist in our Cross Categorical Program, located at Woods Creek (.60). The Speech-Language Pathologist will work in conjunction with the Cross Categorical classroom teacher to address curriculum concepts. Speech services are delivered within the classroom through an integrated model using both small and large group instruction as well as an individual basis as appropriate for meeting student needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Have knowledge of current speech/language pathology approaches and practices
Have the ability to plan program goals and designated outcomes for students
Have the ability to implement strategies, activities and techniques for promoting quality student performance in communication and language development
Have the ability to assess communication and language learning outcomes achieved by students using a variety of assessment procedures (i.e., formal and informal testing, observation, ongoing monitoring of performance)
Possess the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and the community and outside agencies to better meet the needs of students
Possess the ability to address the learning styles of students
Possess the ability to work as a contributing team member
Possess the ability to assist with curriculum adaptations to meet the diverse needs of learners
Possess the ability to effectively contribute to an individual program plan for students with special needs
Skills and Experience Required:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
Speech Language Pathologist Endorsement
Comprehensive understanding of school based Speech/Language therapy
Strong understanding of data collection/monitoring of student progress
Public or private school experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience serving young children
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team
The ability to evaluate and assess students
Utilize appropriate assessment tools and techniques
Prepare initial evaluation and progress reports as required
Design and implement treatment plans, goals and clinical interventions
Physical/Mental Requirements:
Able to communicate effectively
Exhibit outstanding levels of flexibility, creativity, organizational skills, interpersonal communication skills, articulation, confidentiality, organization and cooperativeness
Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lifting equipment and materials
