Job Description Senior Associate Attorney Senior Associate AttorneyPosition Overview We are seeking a seasoned Senior Associate Attorney to join our commercial real estate practice. The role focuses on advising clients on commercial real estate matters with an emphasis on leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, and related transactions. The ideal candidate will manage complex deals, lead negotiations, coordinate financing and debt components, and provide practical, business-oriented legal counsel to landlord, tenant, and investor clients across retail and other commercial property sectors. Experience with tax considerations in real estate transactions is a strong plus.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvise clients on commercial real estate transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, and joint ventures, ensuring legal and business objectives are met.Lead and draft commercial leasing agreements for landlords and tenants, including complex retail and mixed-use leases; negotiate terms and resolve lease disputes.Manage due diligence processes, identify and address title, survey, environmental, and zoning issues, and coordinate closing deliverables.Structure and negotiate financing and debt-related agreements in cooperation with lenders, borrowers, and other counsel; handle mortgage, mezzanine, and refinance
cross-practice workstreams, including tax, environmental, and corporate teams, to deliver comprehensive transaction advice when necessary.Provide counsel on landlord-tenant disputes and lease enforcement, including eviction, rent disputes, and lease interpretation issues.Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and paralegals; review work product and provide constructive feedback to maintain high-quality client service.Develop and maintain client relationships, participate in business development initiatives, and contribute to practice group strategy and market positioning.Stay current on legal and market developments affecting commercial real estate, leasing, and financing; training internal teams and presenting to clients as needed.QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing.5+ years of experience practicing commercial real estate law with substantial exposure to leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, and related transactions.Proven experience negotiating and drafting commercial leases for both landlords and tenants, including retail and mixed-use properties.Demonstrated experience with real estate financing, debt transactions, and closing processes. Familiarity with mortgage, mezzanine, and construction financing preferred.Working knowledge of tax considerations affecting real estate transactions is highly desirable.Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage complex deal teams and tight closing schedules.Excellent client-facing skills, professional judgment, and the ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice.Experience supervising or mentoring junior attorneys and coordinating cross-functional teams.High ethical standards, attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
