Supervisor Of Patient Transportation

The Supervisor of Patient Transportation plays a critical role within the Patient Transportation department at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center by ensuring seamless daily operations that directly support patient care and experience. The Supervisor of Patient Transportation manages staff, coordinates workflows, and partners closely with team Leads and the Manager of Patient Transportation to execute strategic initiatives and special projects. The Supervisor of Patient Transportation maintains a strong on-floor presence to promote transparency, operational efficiency, and service excellence.

The ideal candidate for this role has a high school diploma or equivalent, with an associate's degree in business, health sciences, hospitality, or a related field preferred, along with progressive healthcare, project management, or hospitality experience that includes lead or supervisory responsibilities. Preferred candidates bring staff engagement, builds trust with the staff, process improvement, stakeholder engagement, drive change, demonstrate strong operational leadership, communication skills, and a commitment to safety, service quality, and regulatory compliance.
Minimum $25.48

Midpoint $31.73

Maximum $37.98 per hour based on a 40-hour work week. The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday from 6am - 3pm including rotating holidays and weekends. Work location is onsite.

Responsibilities

Service & Operations
Ensure seamless execution of daily patient transportation operations
Manage staff assignments, workflows, and coordination with team Leads
Perform dispatcher and escort duties as operationally needed
Monitor, accept, and respond to customer service and system issues promptly
Spend approximately 80% of time on operational floor duties and 20% on administrative tasks
Promote team orientation, inclusiveness, and professionalism
Execute effective problem solving, conflict resolution, decision making, planning, and organizing
Maintain transparency and visibility on the floor
Report all environmental safety concerns to appropriate personnel and manager
Quality & Compliance
Use data from multiple resources to support operational decisions and actions
Maintain knowledge of changes impacting the department and ensure staff awareness
Ensure compliance with institutional rules, policies, and directives
Identify process, service, or product improvement opportunities and communicate to leadership
Facilitate ongoing employee education to maintain performance competencies and regulatory compliance
Assist with JCAHO compliance documentation and processes
Finance & Growth
Seek required approval for overtime from manager, associate director, or director
Monitor Kronos daily and prepare reports on volume, productivity, customer satisfaction, and special requests
Ensure operating expenses and net margin remain within 5% of the approved yearly budget
Act as a responsible steward of departmental resources
Seek opportunities to gain technical and administrative expertise and expand capabilities
Training & Development
Participate in ongoing training, projects, and monthly one-on-one sessions
Complete required workshops, educational modules, and annual training
Maintain working knowledge of Department Emergency and Bridge Continuity Plans
Coordinate with the manager on selecting, training, and orienting new employees
Safety & Service Orientation
Maintain safety preparedness including equipment orientation, education events, and fire drills
Provide reliable, responsive, safe, friendly, and courteous service to patients, caregivers, physicians, and coworkers
Model safe, ethical behavior in alignment with UT MD Anderson Standards of Conduct
Respond to requests in a timely manner and communicate service expectations clearly
Admit mistakes, apologize, and take corrective action to resolve issues proactively
Education

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred: Associate's Degree Business, Health Sciences, Hospitality or related field.
Work Experience

Required: 4 years Healthcare, project management, or hospitality experience, to include two years of lead/supervisory experience. or
Required: 3 years Healthcare, project management, or hospitality experience, to include two years of lead/supervisory experience with Associates degree.
Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
Licenses And Certifications

Preferred: Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Heart Saver with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training. Upon Hire
Preferred: CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Upon Hire
