Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for maintaining system of ordering materials, supplies and equipment in accordance with department/administrative procedures.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for purchasing, stocking, maintaining and distributing materials. This includes the units, supply room, 96-hour emergency supply area and main stock room.
Continuously evaluate opportunities for cost savings.
Responsible for distributing supplies to departments in a professional, neat and organized manner.
Performs and completes inventory by due date determined by the Controller or CFO.
Obtains the proper approval for supplies and equipment within regulatory agencies guidelines.
Communicates with all departments on supplies and equipment needed keeping within the budgeted guidelines.
Ensures the accuracy and quality of orders.
Maintain purchase item log for open, backordered and partial delivery items.
Stores inventory properly.
Work with vendors to coordinate delivery schedules.
Notes any damage to inventory on invoices and follows up with vendors.
Organizes storage and categorizes supplies/equipment in accordance with departmental policies/procedures and regulatory agency guidelines to enhance efficiency of handling and prevent deterioration/contamination.
Attends hospital mandatory training/in-services as required in a timely manner.
Follows hospital expectations regarding Time and Attendance,
Performs related duties as assigned

Qualifications
High school education or equivalent required.
Two years of purchasing experience required. Hospital experience preferred.
Working knowledge of PC for internet purchasing required.
Non Violent Crisis Intervention preferred
