NEW Registered Nurse (RN) Pediatric Cardiovascular OR (CVOR)
Full-Time Nights Rotating Weekends
Shift Options: 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts
A leading women s and children s hospital in Houston is seeking a Pediatric CVOR Registered Nurse to join a highly specialized cardiovascular surgical team. This role supports pediatric patients undergoing complex heart procedures and plays a vital part in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
What You ll Do Perform preoperative patient assessments
Educate patients and families about procedures and perioperative care
Prepare patients for surgery, including IV therapy and medication administration
Participate in surgical site verification, time-outs, and universal safety protocols
Monitor patients and respond quickly to emergencies
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based perioperative nursing care
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary surgical team
Document patient condition and care provided
Support continuous improvement and patient safety initiatives
Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance
Strong culture of teamwork and mutual respect in the OR
Ongoing investment in advanced surgical equipment and technology
Leadership rounding and open communication for workflow improvements
On-call required during select non-business hours
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN required within designated timeframe)
Minimum 1 year recent acute care RN experience
Experience caring for patients recovering from heart surgery
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 60 days
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 60 days
Children s Hospital experience
Experience in NICU, Mother Baby, Pediatrics, or PICU
