
Compliance Manager (Brea)

We are seeking an experienced Compliance Manager to lead and oversee compliance operations across retail, wholesale, and correspondent mortgage channels. This role is critical in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, minimizing risk exposure, and supporting overall business objectives.
Reporting to senior leadership, the Compliance Manager will exercise independent judgment in interpreting regulatory guidance, advising stakeholders, and aligning compliance initiatives with enterprise risk strategies. This position also includes leadership responsibilities, including managing and developing compliance team members.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a subject matter expert on mortgage compliance regulations, including TRID, ECOA, HMDA, ATR/QM, RESPA, and Fair Lending laws
Interpret regulatory requirements and provide guidance to business leaders on compliance matters
Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and monitor frameworks
Oversee first-line compliance controls, reporting, and documentation
Identify, document, and escalate compliance risks to senior leadership
Monitor regulatory changes and assess operational impact
Lead internal compliance audits and support regulatory examinations
Manage, mentor, and develop compliance team members
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure adherence to compliance standards
Perform additional duties as needed within the scope of the role
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
7+ years of progressive experience in mortgage compliance
Prior experience managing or leading compliance staff
Strong knowledge of conventional, government, and non-agency mortgage compliance requirements
Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making
Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
MLO Licensed in different States
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds
