Information System Security Engineer

A small DC focused cybersecurity firm is hiring an Information Systems Security Engineer on a 6 month contract to hire basis to design and secure Azure based infrastructure supporting federal workloads. This role sits at the intersection of cloud security, networking, and DevSecOps, working heavily with Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
This is not an audit or compliance role. They need someone who can actually build and harden environments from the ground up and influence engineering decisions.
Contract Duration : 6 Month Contract to Hire
Required Skills & Experience
• 5 to 8 years in cloud security, DevSecOps, or security engineering
• Strong hands on experience securing Azure infrastructure and networking
• Deep understanding of VNets, segmentation, firewalls, VPNs, and access control
• Proven Terraform experience building production infrastructure
• Experience securing Kubernetes and containerized workloads
• Strong networking fundamentals including TCP IP and firewalls
• Experience working with NIST or FedRAMP aligned environments
Desired Skills & Experience
• Experience implementing Zero Trust architectures
• Familiarity with Azure security tooling such as Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, and Entra ID
• Experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines including IaC scanning and secrets management
