Summary
The Shop Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining the day-to-day operations of the Company’s shop and yard facilities, including equipment maintenance, inventory control, logistics, and personnel supervision. This role ensures that all tools, vehicles, and equipment are properly maintained, available, and operating efficiently to support field operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Shop Operations & Equipment Maintenance

Coordinate with Shop Mechanic on daily shop activities, including equipment inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs.

Lead mechanics to ensure efficient and cohesive inventory, delivery, repair, maintenance, and processes with rapid turnaround times and strong quality and control procedures.

Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for vehicles and heavy machinery.

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and DOT regulations.

Coordinate with field teams to prioritize repair schedules based on project needs.

Ensure accurate service records and equipment logs.

Yard Management

Coordinate organization of the yard, including equipment storage, staging, and material inventory.

Ensure proper handling and storage of tools, parts, and consumables.

Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organized work environment.

Implement yard layout and workflow optimizations to improve efficiency.

Overall personnel management of yard, shop, and pumping team.

Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training and development.

Monitor productivity, efficiency, and profitability for all future and current projects, including the correct allocation of resources.

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.

Inventory & Procurement

Monitor and manage inventory of parts, tools, and supplies.

Order materials and equipment as needed, tracking usage and minimizing waste.

Work with vendors to ensure quality and cost‑effective sourcing.

Collaborate with the Procurement Manager on Capital Expenditures; planning, determining needs, evaluating requests, and ensuring competitive pricing.

Logistics & Asset Coordination

Schedule equipment deliveries and returns to/from job sites.

Track equipment usage, availability, and transfers between locations.

Support fleet management, including licensing, inspections, and fuel tracking.

Develop solid and collaborative relationships with internal customers and external vendors, helping resolve conflicts, meet expectations, and maintain potential opportunities.

Continuously identify market opportunities that promote growth for the business.

Provide oversight of financial metrics, including current and future work needs, accounts receivable (AR), and accounts payable (AP), ensuring financial performance aligns with organizational goals.

Coordinate with National Safety Director and Regional Safety Manager as it relates to the Company facility safety.

Conceptualize and implement performance goals that support continuous improvement, scalable efficiencies, employee development, and operational excellence.

Coordination with project management staff during project pre‑start meetings to better understand and plan for field operational needs.

Complete annual review of divisional rent allocation strategies. Ensure fairness and accuracy for used space by evaluating facilities for conditions and optimization.

Direct supervision of the yard and shop

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications

Associate or bachelor’s degree in automotive technology, business administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered

Minimum of 4 years of experience in shop and yard operations, including supervisory roles

Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively

Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure

Excellent organizational and time management abilities

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Valid driver’s license

Must have reliable transportation to the workplace(s)/ job location(s)

Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving

Ability to pass drug screening

Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future

Work Environment/Physical Demand
This position operates in both construction job sites and professional office environments.

Position Type, Travel, and Work Schedule

Position Type: Full‑time, in‑office role

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out‑of‑area and overnight travel may be expected

Work Schedule: This role follows a standard full‑time schedule; however, additional hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines. Due to construction‑related demands, the position requires flexibility to work non‑typical days and irregular hours. The role also requires availability to respond to phone calls outside of standard business hours.
