Oncology Field Medical Director, GU- Prostate Cancer
We are seeking an experienced Oncology Field Medical Director to lead the use of Pfizer’s prostate cancer medicines in Southern California and Arizona. The role blends medical strategy, stakeholder engagement, and clinical trial support to drive advances in patient care.
Core Responsibilities
Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for assigned customers within the territory, coordinating with cross‑functional teams to achieve objectives.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of prostate cancer disease states, relevant therapies, and Pfizer products, providing up‑to‑date information to internal and external stakeholders.
Serve as a conduit for medical information, responding to HCP inquiries in compliance with Pfizer policies and sharing customer insights with the company.
Develop and execute medical content strategy, ensuring alignment with Pfizer’s overall medical agenda and incorporating patient‑centric principles.
Lead advisory board meetings and virtual engagements, and coordinate responses to unsolicited medical questions.
Partner with Oncology Research & Development and Global Product Development to identify sites for sponsored and investigator‑initiated trials, prioritizing under‑represented populations.
Provide medical support throughout the Investigator Sponsored Research process.
Communicate findings from congresses, disease literature, and clinical studies to customers, tailoring messages across written, oral, and virtual channels.
Maintain strong territory leadership and collaborate with local patient advocacy groups and corporate affairs.
Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs at professional associations, demonstrating medical professionalism in all interactions.
Mentor and onboard new field medical associates, and contribute to special projects as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a health science is required.
PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree (e.g., Doctor of Nursing Practice, Doctor of Physical Therapy) highly preferred.
Required experience: 6 years post‑doctoral for PharmD/PhD, 8 years for MBA/MSc, 10 years for BA/BSc.
Demonstrated expertise in prostate cancer therapeutics and strong oral & written communication skills.
Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams, influence peers, and drive business impact.
Excellent interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and relationship building with HCPs and internal stakeholders.
Experience managing multiple projects remotely and prioritizing within a continuous‑improvement environment.
Strong analytical and study‑design knowledge to translate scientific data to customers.
Adaptability to changing healthcare environments and ability to navigate regulatory requirements.
Self‑starter with a sense of urgency to deliver results that have medical impact and a positive customer experience.
Experience with remote medical interactions and digital tools.
Willingness to operate a company vehicle and travel 60‑80% of the time, including frequent domestic flights.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with internal and external SOPs, rules, and regulations governing interactions with healthcare professionals.
Prior field medical experience within oncology or related therapeutic areas.
Travel and Schedule
Will travel 60‑80% of the time, requiring frequent domestic flights and use of a company vehicle.
Location-based flexibility to support on‑site clinical and stakeholder engagements.
Remuneration
Annual base salary ranges from $176,600 to $294,300, with eligibility for a 20% bonus target and participation in Pfizer’s long‑term incentive program.
