Position Summary
We are looking for an exceptionally skilled and driven Principal Engineer for Conversational AI. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in constructing and guiding dynamic, talented engineering teams. This role involves coaching and mentoring team members to ensure the delivery of top‑tier products and services, specifically within the realms of voice and chat bots. As a Principal Software Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in building and delivering high‑quality software that enhances customer experiences, involving all phases of software engineering from requirements analysis to deployment while adhering to agile software development methodologies. Collaboration is key, as you'll work closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet the evolving needs of our business.
Responsibilities
Create a technical vision to meet short‑ and longer‑term business needs
Ensure the long‑term quality of the design and code of our software systems
Oversee the creation and own critical software components
Lead hands‑on, perform design and code reviews
Help deploy and maintain large‑scale software in production, ensuring operational excellence
Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, distributed architecture, and engineering best practices
Help translate business requirements into software systems in an Agile environment
Serve as technical lead on the most demanding, cross‑functional projects
Advise leadership on technical decisions; strong communication skills required
Help the career development of other team members, mentor individuals on advanced technical issues, help managers grow their teams
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience designing and building software engineering solutions in cloud environments
10+ years of experience in one or more modern languages, such as Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, SQL, etc.
10+ years of experience with APIs, microservices, and modern software patterns
5+ years of soliciting complex requirements and managing relationships with key stakeholders
Strong understanding of conversational AI technologies (e.g., chatbots, voice assistants, LLMs, STT/TTS, NLU/NLP engines)
Preferred Qualifications
Strong communication skills, capable of effectively articulating technical and strategic concepts to multiple stakeholders
Hands‑on experience with Large Language Models (LLM) and their practical applications in conversational AI
Experience developing and supporting voice and text chatbots
Advanced degree (Master or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, or a related field
Education
Bachelor degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is: $144,200.00 – $288,400.00. This range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.
