This position is grant-funded, and continued employment is contingent upon grant funding.
Primary Purpose:
Provide leadership and oversight for the district’s North Texas Adult Education and Literacy (NTAEL) program, a Texas Workforce Commission (TWC)-funded initiative serving Denton County and surrounding communities. Ensure effective implementation, compliance, and continuous improvement of program services, including adult basic education, English as a Second Language (ESL), high school equivalency (HSE), and career pathway programs. Oversee program operations, including enrollment, instruction, persistence, and outcomes, while supporting pathways to employment, postsecondary education, and workforce readiness through strong partnerships and community engagement.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Master’s degree (Preferred)
Experience
Experience in adult education, higher education, or related program administration
Experience managing grant‑funded programs (preferred)
Knowledge and Skills
Comprehensive knowledge of adult education programs, curriculum, and instructional practices
Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state requirements related to Adult Education and Literacy programs
Proficient ability to manage grants, budgets, and program resources in compliance with applicable regulations
Proficient ability to analyze data, monitor program performance, and support continuous improvement
Proficient organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal and relationship‑building skills to engage staff, community partners, and stakeholders
Knowledge of adult learning theory, workforce readiness, and college readiness initiatives
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Implementation
Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of NTAEL programs across the service area, including ESL, high school equivalency (HSE), career pathway, and workforce literacy programs.
Establish program goals, monitor outcomes, and ensure alignment with district priorities and grant requirements.
Oversee student enrollment, persistence, completion, and transition outcomes.
Support the development and delivery of instructional programs aligned to adult learning needs.
Program Operations and Compliance
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements, including Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Adult Education and Literacy grant requirements.
Monitor program performance, including contact hours, reporting, and required documentation.
Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting to ensure accuracy and accountability.
Administer grant funds and ensure expenditure aligns with program goals and requirements.
Staff Leadership and Development
Supervise and evaluate assigned staff and support professional growth and development.
Plan and coordinate professional development aligned to program needs and instructional priorities.
Foster a collaborative and professional work environment focused on program effectiveness and student success.
Partnerships and Community Engagement
Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, workforce agencies, employers, and postsecondary institutions to support workforce readiness, training, and transition outcomes for adult learners.
Expand access to NTAEL program through outreach and community engagement efforts.
Collaborate with internal departments to align services and support student success.
Program Growth and Strategic Support
Identify opportunities to expand program offerings based on community needs and labor market trends.
Support marketing and outreach efforts in collaboration with the Communications Department.
Serve as a liaison with local, state, and federal agencies regarding Adult Education programs.
Additional Responsibilities
Adhere to all district policies, procedures, and expectations as outlined in the employee handbook and administrative regulations.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Engage in strategic planning, leadership collaboration, and continuous professional growth aligned with the goals of the department and district.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the department and district.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise and evaluate assigned NTAEL staff
Provide input regarding personnel decisions and program staffing needs
Mental and Physical Demands
Tools and Equipment Used:
Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture:
Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion:
Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting:
Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment:
Frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel
Mental Demands:
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
