Credit Analyst II - Leveraged Finance

Job Description
This job is responsible for analyzing and interpreting a client's credit worthiness, evaluating credit risks, and writing credit approval memos for annual renewals and new lending opportunities. Key responsibilities include analyzing qualitative and quantitative data such as client financials, projections, industry data, covenant compliance, and collateral appraisals to ensure compliance with the bank's risk appetite.

The clients are primarily owned by private equity firms with leveraged capital structures. Job expectations include completing regular monitoring and underwriting tasks and supporting key internal stakeholders to achieve successful execution of new broadly syndicated or Private Credit leveraged finance transactions.

Responsibilities

Analyzes client's financial performance by comparing it to past performance, projections, and industry standards

Reviews financial statements, assesses the client's compliance with financial covenants, and renews risk ratings, while recommending changes as warranted

Assists in the underwriting, credit risk analysis, negotiation, and closing of new transactions or existing transactions, while adhering to all relevant policies and procedures

Evaluates transaction and relationship risk-adjusted profitability to facilitate the allocation of capital

Build projection models for the client (as needed) based on historical performance, industry forecasts, and other due diligence findings

Evaluates credit worthiness and provides analysis and decisioning on whether a leveraged issuer should receive a credit facility

Partners with Senior Credit Officers, Leveraged Finance Capital Markets, Investment Banking Coverage and Risk teammates to assess and deliver leveraged credit solutions

Monitors clients' operating performance and financial condition through earnings calls, periodic financial reporting, and ongoing performance reviews

Delivers financial modeling, leveraged loan structure, industry, and downside sensitivity analyses to support loan decision-making

Ensures adherence to credit policies, guidelines, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

1+ years of relevant experience in credit analysis, banking, financial services, or a comparable analytical or risk-focused role

Demonstrated working knowledge of financial and accounting concepts, with the ability to apply them in credit or financial analysis

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly summarize financial performance, risks, and recommendations

Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, transaction-oriented environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use for financial analysis, modeling, and data review

Strong attention to detail and sound judgment when working within credit policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines

Demonstrated willingness to embrace, learn, and effectively use emerging analytical and AI‑enabled tools to enhance credit analysis, monitoring, and decision‑making

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field

Experience supporting credit underwriting, risk rating, or loan approval processes

Exposure to financial modeling, cash flow forecasting, covenant testing, or profitability analysis

Familiarity with commercial lending products, credit policies, or relevant regulatory requirements

Experience with Leveraged Finance and/or broadly syndicated loans

Experience partnering with capital markets, credit officers, or risk teams
