Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site role for a Cantor at St. Thomas More Church, located in Boynton Beach, FL. The Cantor will lead worship music during liturgical services, including singing liturgical chants, hymns, and psalms. They will coordinate with other musicians to prepare music for worship, rehearse regularly, and support the musical and spiritual needs of the congregation. The role also involves collaborating with clergy and staff to enhance the worship experience and may include occasional participation in special events or ceremonies.
Qualifications
Proficiency in Worship Music and Singing, with the ability to lead congregational singing and perform vocally with confidence
Strong musicianship, including skills in Music and Piano to accompany worship services effectively
Ability to conduct Research on liturgical music and plan appropriate selections for various services
Knowledge of liturgical traditions and the ability to adapt to different worship styles
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with clergy, staff, and the congregation
Previous experience as a Cantor or a similar role in a church or worship setting is a plus
Availability to work weekends is essential for this position.
