
Underwriter - Residential Mortgage Analyst (Miami)

Ascendo is excited to present this opportunity in the residential mortgage industry. We are seeking a driven professional to join a dynamic team managing diverse portfolios of whole loan assets. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of direct experience originating from a mortgage servicer background rather than standard retail banking. Exceptional spreadsheet skills and hands-on experience utilizing diverse underwriting systems are crucial to thriving in this fast-paced environment. A strong foundation in alternative documentation guidelines and secondary market operations is critical to ensuring the smooth daily execution of our acquisition strategies.
Responsibilities:
Support capital markets initiatives by gathering data and organizing necessary documentation for residential mortgage backed securitizations.
Review complex income calculations to ensure all files align with strict internal investment parameters.
Perform thorough audits of loan files to verify the accuracy and presence of critical documents such as appraisals and title commitments.
Monitor the compliance and performance of various specialized residential assets, including distressed, reperforming, and alternative mortgage pools.
Act as the primary point of contact for third party review vendors, tracking statuses and resolving any documentation exceptions.
Qualifications:
Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet software with a strong command of data formatting and pivot tables.
2+ years of background in quality assurance, loan processing, or underwriting, ideally coming from a mortgage servicer space.
A Bachelor degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
Proven experience operating within automated underwriting platforms or similar systems, stretching beyond standard banking environments.
Keen attention to detail to identify inconsistencies in property valuations and complex financial records.
Strong familiarity with specialized residential mortgage loan types, including alternative documentation lending products.
Working knowledge of primary underwriting principles regarding credit, capacity, capital, and collateral.
