
Quality Technician

American Ring is seeking a Quality Technician at our Solon, Ohio Facility. The Quality Technician is responsible to perform inspection and tests required to verify product conformance to established specifications, with minimum supervision. The desired candidate will have experience as a quality technician in a manufacturing facility. Must utilize gages and computer programs for inspections and verifications to product specifications.
Responsibilities
Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
Approves in process production and finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work
Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and scrap; inputting data into quality database
Assists in the calibration and documentation of all production gauges
Assists in the preparation of the required documentation for the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP); assists in the coordination of activities to complete all part layouts, capability studies and gauge repeatability and reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies
Participating member of problem-solving teams; applies structured problem-solving techniques such as the 8D process; teaches others on the 8D process
Utilizes the appropriate statistical techniques to assist in the collection and analysis of data; calculates summary statistics of data (for example, mean, standard deviation, tests for normality, Cp, Cpk)
Assists in continuous improvement projects; identifies areas for improvement by reviewing and analyzing quality data records such as customer returns, scrap, rework, and statistical process control (SPC) charts
Review and disposition of all returned product, in‑house rejections, and raw material rejections; prepares vendor rejected material report (VRMR) in a timely manner for purchased components and raw material; communicates with suppliers to resolve quality problems
Assists in the updating of control plans when changes are made to products
Perform assigned Quality System functions
Demonstrate continued improvement in the areas of quality and productivity
Ability to read technical publications / Prints
Knowledge of standard inspection equipment measuring allowable acceptance (.00005 to .001)
Qualifications
Preferred 3+ years’ experience in a close tolerance manufacturing environment
Analytical Aptitude
Excellent communication skills for customer and supplier interactions
