Virginia-Based System Administrator
Leidos has an exciting opportunity for a System Administrator in our Intel Sector's Cyber & Analytics Business Area (CABA). This role supports our MD customer’s mission in Alexandria, VA, as part of a high performing agile team using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
Job Summary
The selected candidate will perform daily system administration and O&M support activities in a complex network environment with geographically distributed systems. The position focuses on sustaining existing computing and network systems and setting up and maintaining a company site in Alexandria.
Primary Responsibilities
Handle IT Help Desk calls and emails, ensuring all interactions are handled timely and professionally.
Utilize enterprise monitoring solutions to identify alarms triggered against the environments.
Work with senior technicians to troubleshoot and correct hardware and software issues including network connectivity.
Provide technical assistance to companion work groups for overlapping projects and maintain inter‑departmental relations.
Communicate with users and publish status of system outages as needed.
Proactively contact customers when infrastructure processes are significantly delayed or may impact their ability to complete a business function on time.
Execute the process for managing information assurance vulnerability alerts (IAVAs) and system security scanning for equipment suites in accordance with the System Security Plans, identifying and remediating IAVAs.
Initiate IAVA responses and system security scans, completing remediation, and extending IAVA patches and security updates on various IT and network systems.
Participate in creating and maintaining documentation to ensure clear, concise, and accurate information is readily available for incident resolution.
Undertake project work and support IT enhancements.
Required Qualifications
BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience.
Experience on an IT/software program that utilizes complex equipment/systems such as network switches, routers, LANs, cabling, Windows/Linux operating systems, VMware, etc.
Experience with Data Center design and configuration (e.g., rack and stack, power, placement).
Experience with IT system optimization, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Experience providing documentation for technical processes.
Direct, hands‑on experience helping users in an IT or customer service capacity.
Ability to respond quickly to customer inquiries with clear, concise status reports and follow‑ups.
Commitment to best practices, including compliance with maintenance windows and change control procedures.
Strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
Independent thinker capable of working proficiently autonomously and within a team.
Availability to respond to system administration, operations, and maintenance issues during off‑duty or on‑call periods.
Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time if required.
Reporting to the Annapolis Junction, MD office at least once per month.
Clearance required: TS/SCI with polygraph.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with security standards, software architectures, and/or network security technologies such as Multiple Domain, PKI, SSP, Vulnerability Assessment, etc.
Experience supporting a software configuration management and development environment.
Experience in an Agile development environment or on an Agile team.
Pay Range
$92,300.00 – $166,850.00
