Benning Construction is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee and execute multiple commercial construction projects, ranging from one to four at a time, depending on size, complexity, and location. The Project Manager will take full ownership of all project phases—from pre-construction through closeout—either independently or with support from junior team members such as Junior Project Managers, Estimators, and Project Coordinators.
Typical Responsibilities/Duties
Manage all aspects of assigned projects, including estimating, quantity takeoffs, scheduling, purchasing, and subcontractor coordination
Lead project planning and execution, ensuring quality, safety, and budget compliance
Review and manage shop drawings, submittals, and construction documentation
Oversee job site operations, inspections, and ensure adherence to project requirements and safety standards
Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with owners, designers, and internal teams
Drive project closeout processes, including punch lists and final documentation
Mentor and develop junior team members for future leadership roles
Identify and pursue opportunities for business growth in alternative markets
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial construction, particularly in Benning’s core markets (grocery, retail, cinema, fitness, healthcare, and self-storage)
In-depth knowledge of ground‑up commercial construction from inception to completion
Ability to travel as needed to job sites throughout the Southeast (AL, GA, FL, NC, SC, TN, VA)
Strong skills in developing construction schedules with critical paths and milestones
Expertise in budgeting, cost control, and understanding the financial impacts of project decisions
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously
Excellent decision‑making and conflict resolution skills
Strong communication, organization, and time‑management skills
Strategic thinker with a record of expanding business opportunities
High proficiency with project management software and digital tools
