About the Elementary Interventionist Role
The Interventionist is the instructional leader on campus responsible for driving the academic mission of a KIPP Colorado elementary school by developing and executing programs that enable students to make 1.5‑2.0 years of academic growth each academic year. The Interventionist will support the school’s Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) program for literacy and mathematics, stay current with best practices for literacy/math instruction to educate staff, create and teach intervention groups, and support multi‑language learners. This is a full‑time 10‑month academic position and is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Professional Responsibilities

Provide an active presence, strategic supervision, and intentional monitoring to ensure student safety and engagement in rigorous learning.

Commit to being prepared for lessons, meetings, coaching, PD, and internal communication.

Meet professional obligations including deadlines and schedules.

Leverage professional tools such as Google Suite and Microsoft Suite.

Maintain strong attendance and punctuality.

Collaborate with colleagues and seek feedback for continuous improvement.

Reflect on professional practices and meet development goals.

Participate in professional development, grade‑level, and department meetings.

Engage in all school‑wide and organizational professional development.

Serve as a positive member of a grade team or functional team.

Share candid, solutions‑oriented feedback with peers and leadership.

Assist with student and staff recruitment and engagement activities.

Travel within Denver to other KIPP campuses or PD events when required.

Assist with other duties as assigned, such as lunch, arrival/dismissal, and hallway duties.

Assessment, Goal Setting, and Progress Monitoring

Coordinate and facilitate the school’s intervention programming.

Coordinate literacy assessment and data collection for all students.

Interpret results to determine targeted grouping and manage goal‑setting for reading growth and proficiency.

Schedule push‑/pull‑out support with English‑language arts teachers.

Communicate progress to stakeholders and staff.

Plan, prepare, and deliver rigorous Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading intervention classes targeting decoding, fluency, and comprehension.

Work closely with Learning Support teachers to provide differentiated resources.

Teach daily literacy interventions in small‑group settings, using Foundations and the Wilson Reading System.

Plan and facilitate small‑group math instruction for K‑4 students.

Progress monitor, document, and enter student data into a centralized system.

Analyze data to set individual goals, create intervention groups, and adjust instruction.

Collaborate with general and special education teachers, service providers, leaders, students, and families to meet academic, social, and emotional needs.

Use culturally responsive, trauma‑informed strategies.

Maintain confidentiality of all student and staff data.

Lead Reading Intervention with Students and Support Other Staff

Execute targeted, research‑based reading instruction daily.

Provide partnership and support to staff members and general educators who facilitate academic intervention.

Additional Duties

Frequently communicate progress to key stakeholders and staff.

Carry out the daily big‑four operational duties.

Assist with duties assigned by the school leader or MTSS lead.

Collaborate with other interventionists and the Data and Academics Team to build aligned programming.

Fulfill Denver Public Schools and READ Act compliance requirements as determined by leadership.

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (required).

Spanish bilingual (preferred).

Ability and willingness to meet ESA criteria (required).

At least 2 years of teaching experience (highly preferred).

Willingness to attend required events, including evenings and weekends (required).

Competitive Market Salary: Starting at $60,915, commensurate with experience.
