QUALIFICATIONS
Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or Eligibility
Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods
Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
Digital fluency is required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

Students, and when assigned, student teachers, and classroom aides
JOB GOAL
To provide an approved physical education program and establish a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth; to help pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued education; and to maintain good relationships with parents and other staff members.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythms, dance, and individual, dual, or team sports, utilizing curriculum designated by Vernon Township School District and other appropriate learning activities.
Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of Vernon Township School District
Works cooperatively with other physical education/health teachers in planning and implementing a balanced physical education and health program.
Analyzes, demonstrates and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.
Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the division's basic instructional philosophy and congruent with course and NJ standards; provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.
Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, and keeps appropriate records, including attendance reports, checklists, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.
Maintains control of storage and use of school property.
Evaluates each student's growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team sports.
Communicates with parents, teachers, and school counselors on student progress.
Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
Participates in curriculum development activities, faculty meetings and school-level planning.
Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and work year to be determined as mutually agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Salary Range: $57,330- $107,184 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and in accordance with VTEA contract salary guide.
