Qualifications
Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or eligibility
Minimum experience as required by the Board
Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods
Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

Job Goal
To provide an approved education program and establish a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth; to help students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued education; and to maintain good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Performance Responsibilities
Develop lesson plans and classroom learning activities.
Work to achieve state core curriculum content standards and district educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning in the classroom using board‑adopted curriculum and appropriate learning activities.
Develop instructional materials and provide individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to students’ needs.
Set specific objectives in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carry through presentations to effectively achieve these objectives.
Plan class activities and lesson presentations that are age‑appropriate and meet the individual needs, interests, and ability levels of all students.
Differentiates learning experiences based on student readiness, learning styles and interests to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Monitors student academic progress and personal growth toward stated instructional objectives.
Maintain records of students’ educational progress in class record books and/or board‑approved forms and summarize these marks for reporting purposes.
Identify student needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needs.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.
Budget class time effectively.
Devise written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking as well as reproduction of facts.
Supervise students in out‑of‑classroom activities as assigned.
Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the school program and discuss student progress.
Make effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program.
Cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems.
Maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through in‑service education and other professional growth activities.
Participate in school‑level planning, faculty meetings/committees, and other school system groups.
Support school and district initiatives through participation in school and district projects.
Takes responsibility for growing and developing professionally based on personal areas of needed growth in content knowledge and pedagogical skills, seeking growth experiences within and outside the district, acting on areas of growth suggested by supervisors, and offering support to colleagues.
Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
Perform other duties within the scope of employment and certification as may be assigned.
Terms of Employment
Work year and salary to be determined by the board. Salary range: $60,240 - $101,495. Benefits are provided in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
Annual Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with NJ State law and the provisions of the board's policy on evaluations.
