Instrumental Ministry Assistant

REPORTS TO:
Associate Pastor of Worship

EMPLOYMENT:
Part Time

PRINCIPLE FUNCTION:
The Instrumental Ministry Assistant is responsible for assisting the Associate Pastor of Worship in the overall support and development of the instrumental ministry of the church.

PERSONAL WALK:
The most effective ministry tool is a life that reflects the Lord Jesus Christ. The Instrumental Ministry Assistant should demonstrate a lifestyle marked by a deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. He/she should be an example to the church in his/her personal devotional life, evangelism, discipleship, servanthood, ministry, and stewardship.

GENERAL:
This position is part-time and paid on a salaried basis with no benefits included. This employee will be under the direct supervision of the Associate Pastor of Worship. The Instrumental Ministry Assistant is subject to the employment guidelines as stated in the Employee Handbook.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as the church pianist and as the primary accompanist for the church.

Play piano for all worship services and for all worship service rehearsals.

Play piano for special services, events, musical productions, and projects of the church.

Play piano for all special rehearsals of the worship ministry.

Provide accompaniment for the various choral groups of the church.

Play for weddings (for applicable fees) and funerals as needed (and as available).

Coordinate, enlist, and prepare special music for offertories, preludes, and postludes.

Rehearse with special music volunteers needing an accompanist.

Direct the vocalists’ rehearsal in the absence of the Worship Ministry Assistant.

Direct worship team rehearsals in the absence of the Associate Pastor of Worship and the Worship Ministry Assistant.

Assist in the developing and training of keyboardists and other instrumentalists.

Participate in worship planning meetings as needed (via video conference).

Help secure able replacements when absent.

Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Associate Pastor of Worship.
