Status: Full-Time or Bi-Vocational, Pastoral Staff
Location: First Baptist Church, Scottsboro, Alabama

Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Position Overview
The Worship and Connections Pastor is responsible for leading the church’s worship experiences and facilitating guests’ assimilation into the church’s life. This dual role requires a passionate leader who can cultivate engaging worship environments and develop effective systems for connecting individuals to small groups, service opportunities, and spiritual growth pathways.
Qualifications
A committed follower of Jesus Christ, demonstrating spiritual maturity and a calling to pastoral ministry.
Agrees with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
Bachelor’s degree required, more education is a plus.
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in worship leadership and/or connections ministry.
Proficient in vocal and instrumental music; capable of leading worship with a guitar or keyboard.
Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Experience with worship planning software and audio/visual technology.
Primary Responsibilities
Worship Leadership
Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging worship services with the Senior Pastor, ensuring alignment with sermon themes and church vision.
Recruit, train, and oversee worship team members, including vocalists, instrumentalists, and technical volunteers.
Manage worship rehearsals, song selection, and the integration of multimedia elements to enhance the worship experience.
Oversee the maintenance and organization of musical instruments, equipment, and worship-related resources.
Stay current with trends in worship music and incorporate a blend of traditional and contemporary styles suitable for the congregation.
Connections and Assimilation
Develop a comprehensive assimilation strategy to move guests from first-time visitors to fully engaged members.
Oversee guest services, including greeters, ushers, and hospitality teams, ensuring a welcoming environment for all attendees.
Coordinate and lead membership classes, small group integration, and volunteer onboarding processes.
Maintain accurate records of guest follow-up, membership status, and involvement in church activities.
Collaborate with ministry leaders to identify and create congregational engagement and spiritual growth opportunities.
Additional Responsibilities
Participate in pastoral care, including hospital visits, counseling, and officiating weddings and funerals as needed.
Attend and contribute to staff meetings, strategic planning sessions, and church-wide events.
Assist in developing and managing budgets related to worship and connection ministries.
Ensure compliance with church policies and procedures, including volunteer background checks.
