Position Description
We are looking for teacher substitutes to join our Horizons K8 team!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teacher Substitute: Instructs students and facilitates their learning in the absence of the regular teacher while maintaining discipline and classroom management that fosters a safe and positive learning environment for all students and staff.
Responsibilities
Provide coverage for teachers who are absent
Communicate effectively with students
Incorporate understanding and appreciation for diversity into instructional practices
Effectively utilize time, materials, and resources to maximize learning time for all students
Create and manage a learning environment that promotes a safe and orderly classroom
Implement lesson plans developed by the licensed teacher
Qualifications
Required
Valid and current substitute license (or licensure in progress)
High school diploma, completion of GED, or equivalent
Completion of Colorado Dept of Human Services criminal background screening and CBI fingerprints
Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills
Completed and submitted Horizons K-8 online application
Preferred
Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations
Advanced interpersonal relation skills
Advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills
Tolerance for moderate noise level
Comfort with physical activities such as standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
Comfort with exposure to outdoor weather conditions
Salary
The FY25 Horizons teacher sub hourly rate is $21.25/hr. This is an as-needed position, paid on an hourly basis.
