Primary Purpose
The Technology Specialist supports the District’s technology environment by administering endpoint systems, managing technology assets, supporting critical operational platforms, and assisting with cybersecurity practices. This role provides advanced technical support, ensures the reliability and security of district systems, and collaborates with Technology, Network and Systems Administration staff to maintain efficient and secure operations across all campuses and departments.
Qualifications
Education / Certification
Associate’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field preferred
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Google, JAMF, Apple, or similar) preferred
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting technology systems in an enterprise or K–12 environment preferred
Experience with endpoint management, device lifecycle management, system administration support, networking, VoIP preferred
Special Knowledge / Skills
Proficiency with Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and mobile operating systems
Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) and asset inventory systems
Knowledge of identity and access management (e.g., Active Directory, Google Workspace)
Working knowledge of VoIP systems and basic networking concepts (IP, wireless, VLANs)
Understanding of cybersecurity principles, endpoint protection, and account security
Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and system issues
Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Administer and manage MDM systems and oversee full device lifecycle (procuring, deployment, configuration, updates, decommissioning)
Maintain accurate technology asset inventory, including device tracking, assignments, and audit readiness
Support cybersecurity efforts, including endpoint protection, access control, monitoring, incident awareness, and compliance with district security standards
Assist with system configuration, user setup, and ongoing maintenance of district platforms
Assist with user account provisioning, access management, and troubleshooting of authentication/permission issues
Provide Tier 2 technical support for hardware, software, and connectivity issues; elevate as needed
Coordinate with vendors for cabling, system support, and equipment services; assist in scheduling and oversight of vendor activities
Collaborate with Network Administrator, Systems Administrator and Technology Administrator to support operations, deployments, and initiatives
Coordinate and support the implementation of technology projects, including tracking progress, communication, and task completion
Maintain documentation, reporting, and compliance with district policies and procedures
Assist with installation and configuration of basic network-connected equipment, such as switches, wireless access points, VoIP phones, and peripheral devices
Research, evaluate, and support implementation of new technologies and systems to improve district operations
Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:
This position works in a school environment and may be required to travel throughout the District to support multiple campuses. Work may occur in offices, classrooms, outdoor areas, and equipment spaces with varying conditions, including exposure to heat or cold. Physical demands include lifting and carrying equipment (up to 25–45 pounds), frequent walking, and occasional bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, or working in confined spaces such as under desks or in wiring areas. May work prolonged or irregular hours.
Tools / Equipment Used:
Standard office equipment, computers, peripherals, hand-held and electric tools, and other technology-related devices.
Posture:
Prolonged sitting; frequent standing and walking; occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
Motion:
Repetitive hand motions including keyboarding and use of mouse; frequent reaching, handling equipment, and use of hand-held and electric tools.
Lifting:
Occasional light to moderate lifting and carrying (up to 25–45 pounds).
Environment:
Work is performed in office, classroom, outdoor, and equipment environments with varying conditions, including exposure to heat or cold; may require travel between sites and occasional after-hours work.
Mental Demands:
Work with frequent interruptions; manage multiple tasks; meet established deadlines; maintain emotional control under stress.
