Position:

Social Worker/Counselor
Location: Merrionette Park office, Illinois

Salary:

$59,000 - $70,000 annually, based on skill and experience. Licensed professionals (LCSW or LCPC) may receive up to $78,000.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Perform comprehensive, in-depth assessments across programs; complete designated intake.

Provide full range of case management, counseling, advocacy, education, and related services.

Utilize agency and community resources to support clients.

Assess community conditions affecting clients to identify resource gaps and problems.

Recommend financial assistance for clients.

Offer group services and/or develop groups or coalitions to address community needs.

Maintain 24-hour coverage or other contractual requirements as needed.

Represent and interpret agency programs in the community.

Participate in regional or agency-wide committees.

Meet agency expectations for quantity of direct service.

Comply with record-keeping expectations.

Work effectively with diverse staff and client population.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Superior skills in working with families or communities.

Competence in consultation, teaching, or writing.

Mobility to conduct community work with assigned caseload.

Ability to collaborate with diverse individuals and groups.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in social work or related field from an accredited institution.

Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) required.

Minimum two years of post-graduate social work experience at intermediate skill level preferred.

Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) or experience working with clients experiencing substance use preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Satisfactorily pass all relevant screenings and criminal background checks.

TRANSPORTATION & TRAVEL

Driving for work required; vehicle for client transportation preferred.

Travel between sites not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee must sit and stand for prolonged periods, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle, and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must have close visual acuity for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
