
Material Handler - 3rd Shift

OVERVIEW
The Material Handler is responsible for loading, unloading, and moving materials within or near plant, yard, or worksite. Additionally, the material handler is responsible for emptying super sacks and manually feeding sugar to production lines.
This position requires the flexibility to work various shifts, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and overtime, as needed. Weekend shifts may be mandated based on business needs.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow work orders and/or verbal instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, etc. using forklift.
Move finished and raw materials.
Unload and process super sacks.
Manually feed sugar to production lines.
Work effectively and ensure food safety, authenticity, legality, and quality are maintained.
Report any risks or evidence of unsafe or out-of-specification product, equipment, packaging or raw materials to a designated manager to enable resolution of issues requiring immediate action.
May assist with shipping and receiving as needed.
All other duties as assigned.
WORK EXPERIENCE
1-2 years in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
Prior forklift or tow motor experience preferred; ability to be certified is required.
Proven ability to successfully meet customer and management deadlines.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Equivalent experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The job requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. Must understand verbal and written English. Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
COMPENSATION
Pay range: $19.00-$22.99 per hour, depending on qualifications and prior experience. Benefits include healthcare (medical, dental, vision, prescription drugs) available the first of the month following 30 days of employment, 401(k) with match, life insurance, AD&D, short-term disability, vacation, holiday and sick time. Shift Differential: 2nd shift ($1.00); 3rd shift ($1.50).
