Job Overview
Maintenance Carpenter performs general carpentry and assorted duties necessary to maintain, repair or upgrade all facilities, structures, equipment and utilities. Work involves: planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter’s hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments, and making standard computations relating to dimensions of work; and selecting materials necessary for the work. The work requires rounded training and experience from an apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience.

Pay Rate: $36.40

Responsibilities

Performs maintenance and repair work such as foundations, interior walls, exterior walls, all types of exterior siding, all floor covering, sub-floors, catwalks, commercial doors/frames, windows, partitions and all other building components as necessary.

Plan, organize work and meet all deadlines. Able to do a variety of tasks in any single day.

Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.

Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.

Able to inspect and diagnose problems to determine corrective repairs.

Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.

Assists with periodic stock inventories and prepares material requisitions for replacement items.

Required to safely operate customer and company motor vehicles and/or other equipment.

Will be required to perform various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.

Assists and supports other trade groups and/or department staff in daily operations as needed.

Adheres to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.

Ability to work overtime as needed

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Mandatory

High school graduate or equivalent GED.

At least five (5) years of commercial carpentry experience completing similar work.

Journeyman Carpenter and/or commercial carpentry experience.

Familiarity with basic mathematical functions as required.

General knowledge of hand and power tools.

Familiarity with applicable codes and standards.

Ability to perform assigned work tasks with minimal supervision.

Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.

U. S. Citizenship.

Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.

Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.

Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Preferred

Possess required security clearance.

Broad based knowledge of woodworking techniques and construction methods.

Knowledge of commercial doors and windows.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
