DOC Training Coordinator (Director's Office)
Location: Deer Lodge, MT

Job Overview:

The Montana Department of Corrections seeks a DOC Training Coordinator to train prison staff across basic, in‑service, and advanced courses. The role coordinates curriculum, collaborates with trainers, management, and the DOC Training Manager, and works with internal and external partners such as judges, tribal agencies, and law enforcement.

Responsibilities

Train Montana State Prison staff in basic, in‑service, and advanced professional courses.

Collaborate with management and staff instructors to implement the DOC Training Plan.

Develop, coordinate, and deliver consistent curriculum across DOC facilities, bureaus, and divisions.

Deliver training to external partners (judges, youth courts, tribal agencies, county and juvenile detention centers, regional prisons, law‑enforcement agencies).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Education, Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field, or training.

Prior course instruction experience and instructor development certification; membership in an advanced training team (e.g., SRT, STG) is preferred.

Experience with a Field Training Officer program preferred.

Prior probation, corrections, law‑enforcement, or detention experience is highly sought after.

Competency demonstration may offset some education and experience requirements.

Salary & Benefits
Hourly: $31.42 – $34.42

Telework: Eligible (full‑time telework not available; schedule requires supervisor approval).
