The Summer School Title I Teacher will provide instruction and support to students currently in grades Kindergarten through grade four, as part of a summer school program running from July 6, 2026, to July 30, 2026. This role is vital in creating an engaging and positive learning environment that enhances the educational experience for all students. The ideal candidate will possess strong instructional skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for helping students from diverse backgrounds succeed.

Salary:

$36.81 hourly per SFT Collective Bargaining Agreement

Responsibilities

Participate in a spring meeting to review program expectations.

Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the instructional goals of the summer program.

Organize classroom supplies and materials effectively to support learning.

Communicate regularly with families to provide updates on student progress and program information.

Maintain accurate daily attendance records.

Supervise students in the classroom and during transitions, addressing and managing behavior concerns promptly to maintain a safe and conducive learning environment.

Work collaboratively with fellow teachers and instructional aides to support effective teaching practices and enhance student learning.

Participate in family engagement activities designed to involve parents and guardians in the educational process and strengthen community involvement.

Provide feedback through program surveys for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Valid Maine State Teaching Certification.

Previous experience in an educational setting, particularly in programs serving Title I populations, is highly desirable.

Strong instructional and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt lessons to meet diverse student needs.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact positively with students, families, and staff.

Ability to manage student behavior effectively and create a supportive learning environment.

Familiarity with differentiated instruction strategies and engaging teaching methods.
