Job Description
Hastings Elementary School, Westborough, MA seeks a 0.8 FTE LTS Visual Arts Teacher to join our Fine Arts Department for the conclusion of the 2025-2026 school year. Assignment begins on 5/4/26 and ends on 6/22/26. Schedule is Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Job Goal :
The Hastings Elementary School LTS Visual Arts Teacher fosters creativity that encourages exploration, critical and reflective thinking, and a growth mindset that establishes a lifelong relationship with the arts. The Visual Art Teacher engages students in learning experiences that help them gain proficiency in the principles of art & design, understanding artistic intent, and social emotional learning. Instruction aligns with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district-level curriculum and standards.
Qualifications :
Education :
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related field
Professional Certification Required :
MA DESE license in VISUAL ART (PreK-12)
SEI Endorsement
Specialized Knowledge :
child development, art curriculum frameworks, effective pedagogy in the elements and principles of art and design, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti-bias instruction, social-emotional learning, technology integration
CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting :
All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.
Preferred Experience :
Teaching in a diverse public school setting with English Language Learners
Teaching students with special needs, including students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges
Demonstrating skill teaching elements of art, as well as specialized techniques in 2D Art
Skills :
Create a welcoming, supportive, and equitable learning environment
Plan and implement differentiated lessons and ongoing formative assessment based on district objectives and student needs
Apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional design and remain current in content knowledge and instructional pedagogy
Collaborate with team teachers, department colleagues, and specialists
Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, colleagues, and parents
Integrate technology to enhance learning experiences
Model a growth mindset for students and for self
Central Functions of the Job
(may include but not limited to):
Provides learning experiences in the visual arts guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards
Monitors students' understanding and adjusts instruction, materials or assessments as appropriate
Evaluates and refines instructional practice and assessment strategies to increase student learning
Maintains and improves professional competence through professional development
Other relative duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities :
The Hastings Elementary Visual Art Teacher does not have supervisory responsibilities
Salary and Benefits :
Salary, benefits, and responsibilities per contract between the Westborough School Committee and the Westborough Education Association.
