Earn up to $5,000 in hiring incentives when you join the City of Pearland's Utilities team as a licensed TCEQ Water Operator! Incentive amounts are based on your license grade:
Grade C License – $2,500
Grade B License – $3,500
Grade A License – $5,000
Compensation and Benefits
Salary
– $24.07–$26.05 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
Certification pay for licenses higher than required. The city covers all premiums for dental, long‑term disability, and life insurance, and pays the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and dependents.
Retirement plan through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with a 2:1 employer match, life insurance, disability, access to recreation fitness center, employee assistance program, educational assistance, 11 paid holidays, 2 designated paid holidays, paid vacation, sick leave, and a wellness program.
Essential Functions
Performs daily plant checks of mechanical, chemical and electrical equipment operations.
Runs daily process control sample testing using onsite lab equipment according to plant permit requirements; checks lab results and makes corrections.
Turns on, monitors and makes adjustments to equipment during the day to maintain removal of solids in accordance with process procedures.
Performs plant maintenance and repairs equipment that may need to be repaired or replaced.
Reads operator's process control reports, logbooks and lab sampling results.
Troubleshoots and fixes problems at the wastewater facilities.
Participates in plant inspections by TCEQ.
Requirements
High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college chemistry, biology, or a closely related field.
Four (4) years of wastewater operations or closely related experience.
Wastewater Treatment Operator Class C license.
