Job Description
Bishop Dunne Catholic School is seeking a Part‑time Head Girls Basketball Coach. The Head Coach will lead all aspects of the basketball program while supporting the school's Catholic mission, college‑preparatory focus, and commitment to forming servant leaders. The coach will build a competitive program within the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) while prioritizing faith formation, academic accountability, and character development.

Collaborate with faculty and administration to support whole‑student formation.
Model Catholic values and uphold the teachings of the Church.
Support campus ministry initiatives (Mass, retreats, service opportunities).
Program Leadership
Lead and oversee all levels of the Bishop Dunne girls basketball program (Varsity, JV, Freshman, and Middle School).
Develop a year‑round program emphasizing skill development, strength and conditioning, and basketball IQ.
Establish a clear program identity aligned with Bishop Dunne values and TAPPS competition standards.
Prepare teams for successful participation in TAPPS district, bi‑district, and playoff competition.
Student‑Athlete Development
Promote academic accountability in alignment with Bishop Dunne standards.
Mentor student‑athletes in leadership, discipline, and Christian character.
Foster spiritual development through team prayer, reflection, and service.
Support college recruitment and exposure opportunities where appropriate.
Coaching Staff Management
Hire, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches.
Ensure alignment across all program levels in philosophy and expectations.
Promote professional development among coaching staff.
TAPPS Compliance & Operations
Ensure full compliance with all TAPPS rules, eligibility requirements, and bylaws.
Coordinate scheduling, travel, and game operations in collaboration with the Athletic Department.
Maintain accurate records for eligibility, rosters, and required reporting.
Represent Bishop Dunne professionally at TAPPS meetings and events.
Program Administration
Manage equipment, uniforms, and facilities responsibly.
Oversee program budget in coordination with the Athletic Director.
Organize offseason development (camps, leagues, strength programs).
Assist with program fundraising and community engagement initiatives.
Communication & Community Engagement
Maintain clear, consistent communication with players, parents, and administration.
Promote the program positively within the Bishop Dunne and Dallas community.
Support school‑wide events, admissions efforts, and athletic promotion.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Prioritize athlete safety and well‑being at all times.
Ensure proper training techniques and injury prevention protocols.
Maintain required certifications (CPR, First Aid, Safe Environment training).
Work Environment & Expectations
Availability for evenings, weekends, and travel during season.
Year‑round engagement including offseason development and program planning.
Active presence in the Bishop Dunne school community.
Position Requirements
Prior high school or higher-level coaching experience (head coaching preferred).
Strong knowledge of basketball strategy, player development, and program building.
Familiarity with or willingness to learn TAPPS regulations and competition structure.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Commitment to Catholic education and student formation.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching certification or ability to join Bishop Dunne faculty.
Experience in a Catholic or faith‑based school environment.
Proven success in building a competitive, values‑based program.
Experience with offseason development systems (strength training, AAU coordination, etc.).
