Location:

Hidden Hills Elementary School

Duration:

9 months, 6 hours per day

Grade 10, $15.15 per hour

Purpose Statement

The job of Campus Support is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process with specific responsibilities for ensuring the safety and welfare of students in a variety of support service areas including noon duty coverage, AM/PM duty coverage, classroom assistance, crosswalk coverage, and other areas as needed on campus.

This job reports to Building Administrator.

Essential Functions

Assists students for the purpose of providing safe access to and from assigned location.

Communicates safety and security policies and enforcement procedures to students, staff and visitors for the purpose of ensuring their understanding and potential consequences of violation.

Maintains job related equipment (e.g. stop sign, jacket, sand bags, flag, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of required items.

Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (classroom, playground, field trips, between assigned periods, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance and maintaining a safe positive learning environment.

Monitors student behavior entering and exiting school grounds for the purpose of ensuring compliance and maintaining a safe positive learning environment.

Refers incidents including personal injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, rule violations, etc. to appropriate site personnel for the purpose of ensuring follow-up.

Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel.

Responds to inquiries from students and parents regarding campus security issues for the purpose of providing information, direction and/or referral for addressing inquiry.

Responds to a variety of situations (accidents, injuries, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety and/or security concerns.

Supports classroom teachers and other school personnel for the purpose of assisting in ensuring a safe positive learning environment.

Other Functions

Participates in unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Adhering to safety practices and enforcing rules and regulations.

Basic math skill; understanding written procedures, writing routine documents, speaking clearly; and understanding complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.

Knowledge of safety practices and procedures; traffic laws.

Scheduling activities; collating data; using basic job-related equipment.

Flexibility to work with others, use specific processes, and operate equipment.

Problem solving to identify issues and create action plans; following prescribed guidelines; moderate ability with equipment.

Displaying tact and courtesy, attentiveness to detail, maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities
Working under direct supervision using standardized routines; providing information and/or advising others; continual opportunity to impact the organization’s services.

Work Environment
Physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Requires 40% sitting, 30% walking, 30% standing.

Performed under temperature extremes and exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Experience
Job related experience is desired.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Testing, Certificates and Licenses
Continuing Education/Training.

Clearances
Criminal Background Clearance.
