OPERATOR II — MEDICAL DEVICE ASSEMBLY

Menlo Park, CA | On-Site | Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Position Overview
The Operator II is responsible for the production of high-quality cardiovascular medical devices as part of a team within a manufacturing cell. This role involves detailed assembly and operation of various equipment and machinery per documented procedures, and may include electronic assembly, casting and coating functions, mechanical assembly, and packaging. The operator is also responsible for cleaning tools and equipment per documented procedures and disposing of hazardous waste material in the corresponding hazardous waste areas. Depending on work area, this role may be performed in a controlled cleanroom environment. Work is performed according to specified and standardized procedures and is closely and continually reviewed.

Schedule & Compensation

Shift: 4:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Classification: Non-Exempt

Overtime: Hours worked over 40 per week are paid at time-and-a-half

Location: On-site in Menlo Park, CA

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assembly & Operation

Assemble medical devices and related components in accordance with documented procedures.

Use microscopes, hand tools, razor blades, and syringes, and perform soldering and adhesive bonding as required.

Operate various manufacturing equipment and machinery per documented procedures.

Perform routine assignments according to specified and standardized procedures.

Inspection, Testing & Rework

Perform visual inspection and precision measurements on components and assemblies.

Perform tests on units using computerized test equipment.

Repair and correct devices and components using microscopes and applicable tools.

Packaging & Documentation

Package devices, ensuring all parts are accurate and documentation is complete.

Maintain accurate records to ensure travelers, shop floor paperwork, and quality documents are correct, all parts are traceable, and quality issues can be addressed to assure product quality.

Safety & Environmental Compliance

Follow safety guidelines and utilize appropriate safety devices and equipment when performing all operations.

Clean tools and equipment per documented procedures.

Dispose of hazardous waste material in the corresponding hazardous waste areas.

Cooperate in maintaining a clean, sanitary work environment throughout the building.

Continuous Improvement & Communication

Participate in continuous improvement and quality initiatives to enhance production processes and achieve quality and profitability metrics.

Notify the supervisor or lead when supplies or materials need replenishing, and report any production difficulties that cannot be readily corrected.

Partner with the Manufacturing Supervisor/Manager to set and monitor individual goals and cell performance metrics aimed at continuously improving operational quality.

Perform other related duties as directed or assigned.

Requirements
Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED required.

Two (2) or more years of relevant manufacturing, assembly, or medical device experience.

Language & Math

Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written English procedures at a 6th-grade level.

Basic math skills at a 6th-grade level.

Ability to speak, follow verbal instructions, and communicate effectively in English.

Technical & Physical Skills

Understanding of and ability to use electronic data collection systems and standard computer software packages.

Good manual dexterity to handle and maneuver small components and parts.

Comfortable working under microscopes and with precision hand tools over the course of a shift.

Judgment & Work Habits

Ability to prioritize work by determining the sequencing and timing of different jobs based on precedence and importance.

Ability to make critical decisions and judgments with minimal supervision.

Willingness to work in a controlled cleanroom environment when assigned.
